Island shot on the flight deck of the USS Cabot (CVL-28) circa 1950. Ordered as a light cruiser; reordered as a carrier and launched in 1943.  She saw distinguished service during WWII and was recommissioned in 1948 as a Naval Air Reserve training carrier. A number of reserve squadrons including those from NAS Grosse Ile trained aboard her. - Hal Neubauer
