Construction of Hanger 1 is approaching the half way mark. In the lower right portion of the photo the foundation for what was referred to as the White Barracks is being installed. This facility, adjacent to the officers quarters, was initially built to house the large continent of waves who served during the war years. In later years it housed the 85 day Boot Camp and "A" school participants. And during the final years the building was headquarters for the Marine's MARTD unit. -- Hal Neubauer
