EP Collection EP-03

The F7F Tigercat crashed in a farmers field near Bad Axe, MI was a Marine aircraft that had nothing to do with NAS Grosse Ile however the crash crew that was sent to the scene was from NASGI. I know because I was the sailor on the left side of the photo, the man on my right is Mike D'Ambrosio. We had duty the day it happened. Mike D'Ambrosio was the section leader at the time. As I recall the engines were buried below the field level and the farmer said to bull doze the dirt over them, then later on he raised cane and the Navy had to go out again and remove the engines. I don't remember who the other sailors were except I think one of them was an ADR1 named Bill Root. - Earl F. Long ADRI (USNR Retired)
