22 of the surviving 25 FF-1s were converted to FF-2s by the Naval Aircraft Factory in 1935 . These units were then assigned to Navy and Marine reserve units. The aircraft had the guns removed and had dual controls installed, however the gun cameras were retained and mounted starboard of the centerline on the upper wing.
