U.S. Navy Navy Seaplane Hangar
Old Seaplane Hangar
Building #01
The building to the right of the seaplane hangar that looks like a garage with a black roofis a boat house.   It housed the base crash boat through the time I was there and after.  The lower base facility except for the crash boat and fuel dock was converted to recreational activities.  A large marina was maintained for base personnel with rental boats and docking for base members private fract.  When we (VS 733) were deactivated I and the ASW officer took our 24 aircrewmen out for a day of water sports and skiing using a huge pontoon and ski boat and using Sugar Island as our base of operation.  Some day I'll tell you how I nearly drowned. -- Hal Neubauer
