The PV-2 entered combat in 1944 as a Navy patrol bomber. It
was an updated PV-1 with increased wing span and larger tail surfaces.
The Navy ordered 500 of which 470 were delivered before Japans surrender.
It was one of the Navy's fastest patrol bombers. They had 5 forward
firing fixed guns, 2 in a top turret and 2 in neutral positions behind
the internal bomb bay.
